Continuing Education
How are CEUs calculated at ABVE conferences?
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for ABVE are calculated based on a factor of 1.5 times the clock hours attended. CEUs for all other certifying bodies are calculated hour for hour for each clock hour attended.
How many CEUs can ABVE members earn?
Certified ABVE members may earn up to 31.5 ABVE CEUs at this conference (including pre-conference sessions) to apply to the 2010 -2012 certification cycle requirement of 42 CEUs.
What other certifications will the ABVE conference CEUs count toward?
ABVE has applied to the following organizations for 21 CE units for the conference.
- Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRC, CVE)
- Certification of Disability Management Specialists Commission (CDMS)
- Commission for Case Manager Certification (CMC)
- International Commission on Health Care Certification (CLCP)
- VRA Canada (RRP, RCSS, RVP)
APA
ABVE is approved by the American Psychological Association to provide Continuing Education (CE) units for psychologists. ABVE maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
NBCC
ABVE is recognized by the NBCC to offer continuing education for National Certified Counselors. We adhere to NBCC continuing education guidelines.
How are CEUs verified?
Two forms are used throughout the conference: 1) Individual Session Evaluation Forms given at each session and 2) Attendance Verification Form included in the program book. Both forms are stamped at the end of each session. Attendees submit all forms at the end of the conference. Attendees keep the Attendee portion of the Attendance Verification Form for their records. An official Certificate of Completion is mailed within three weeks of the end of the conference. The certificate will document the number of CEUs earned for each of the designations the attendee has requested.
